Just purchased a TV - TCL - and was pleasantly surprised to find it has a basic TV mode. ie enough to feed in HDMI

Still trying to figure out whether it’s safe to update it

On the surface this looks like an absolutely massive GDPR violation, if they sell them like this in the EU they could get into a lot of trouble over this.

Not really, GDPR is barely enforced. Especially if they put their European HQ in Ireland as most do.

Well, time to kick some Irish nuts.

It's baffling the EU spoon fed that shit hole for ages and then they are even to lazy to collect taxes from the big ones. I hate Ireland for that.

It's horrifically ironic how the Irish are oh so proud of their supposed independent and anti-colonial when they're the primary rogue agent of US corporate interests in the EU. Near all of their economic growth over the last two decades comes from being a parasitic tax and compliance haven for US mega corporations.

thing is that there is one file system, and your on it along with everyone and everything else, and "security" is pretending not to know that, like has been multiply demonstrated with php, in that if you press enough buttons fast enough, it rolls over and piddles everything everywhere, which is something that the samsung advertisers are ,like I said, pretending, they cant do, just somehow have automated the aglomeration of peoples data, and please buy this toothbrush, we are SURE you will like it AGAIN, please, BLUE handle with green bristles right, right, heres a pic of you scanning it, we have a sku, and your credit card info, do you want it delivered at home, work, or drone dropped through the sunroof of your car, innnnnn 27 min on your way home? just scream in silent horror for, yes!
