The weaker antipyretic effect of paracetamol/acetaminophen compared with ibuprofen has been known about for decades in adult studies.

It would have been surprising to obtain a different result in children.

I had always read that acetaminophen/Tylenol was the gold standard for fever reduction, so this result (ibuprofen/Advil marginally better than acetaminophen/Tylenol) is mildly surprising to me.

Paracetamol is in general safer than ibuprofen unless you are allergic to paracetamol, in which case the result can be quite gruesome and bloody.

Paracetamol is not a blood thinner. There are not many OTC painkillers that are not blood thinners.

As someone who has been around a sick child, I’ll take the statistically significant temperature reduction at 4h of ibuprofen.

Don't think this is new info

In UK, if you go to the doctor they will recommend acetaminophen/calpol first because ibuprofen anti-inflammatory effect will affect the body's natural response to the "problem" or something like that
