You can do that with Google's NotebookLM. Upload docs, ask questions where the answers are strictly referenced to the docs. I used it for "where does it say that" and other types of questions about ISO technical standards, traffic codes and other documents.

sure yeah, this is for non-technical crowd as well, they can just paste a doc and find out if it has an answer to their question.

My point is not to shill for a Google thing, but more that the ability to hookup the plumbing around an LLM to give answers tied to a document is something that has already long been done; it doesn't depend on "Jev".

But in terms of usability, if you can fog a mirror and move the needles on an EEG, you can probably upload documents to LMNotebook and punch in a question.

“How it works” link is broken on Safari on iOS. I am quite curious how it works, exactly.

hmm.. can you try it again please. it's just the simple animation on the homepage.

I tested it on a short piece of my own writing. It’s helpful to see the exact lines highlighted instead of a summary.

yeah, that's my main use case as well. Just wanted to view the answer (if it exists) to the question without an AI summarizing it.

how does it handle questions where the document doesn't contain an answer?

    • irs a day ago

it would say it isn't able to find a match in any of the passages for your question.
