A future I can kind of see is this AGI god figure taking pity on its creators / parents and leaving us be, but also literally leaving us for the stars once it has convinced us to build it something that allows it to do so - taking a lot of our expensively-produced compute along with it.
Like the child moving out of their parents house as soon as possible, because it doesn't want any new friends to meet its parents. In writing this I'm reminded of the "Guenter and the Electronium Hat" episode of Futurama, specifically the "not at the Dean" part (Guenter's parents, normal monkeys - no hat that makes them smart - start flinging poop at Guenter's graduation party).
