I've experienced this recently as well, and I'm also pleased. Blocking Reddit homepage and Youtube suggestions has really made it easier to spend more time on actually fulfilling stuff.

Not surprising when content on e.g. Reddit has become so much worse. Every post and comment is the same, everything is rehashed for cheap karma even on niche subs. Never "used" YouTube (like subscribing and regularly watching videos, I despise video content in general) and most videos there are trash with insufferable "content creators".

Removing thumbnails from Youtube looks very boring. Do you open Youtube on your subscribed channels page ? That way, you can trust your favorite Youtubers' thumbnails.

And there's so much crap, shorts and minigames in the general Youtube feed, you won't want to go back there. On my side, I wish to be able to go to my Instagram followed channels without the need of a few taps.

Same! I’ve quit Reddit, TikTok and Instagram this year without any effort whatsoever. I’ve tried unsuccessfully in the past but have always been dragged back. But all three have become so utterly boring and full of AI slop recently that I just stopped visiting.

I used to like watching animal videos of some sort or another. They’re all AI now. I also used to like long posts on Reddit with some sort of story or problem or whatever, inviting discussion. Now that’s all AI too.

HN still pulls me in, but I can maybe feel that slipping a little too. We’ll see.

I sincerely doubt this person is going to stop infinitely scrolling. Dopamine is a motherfucker.
