Hey HN, we’re building Tributly, a browser extension that lets users earn a share of advertising revenue while browsing the web. The idea is: install it, browse normally, and get rewarded from the advertising revenue generated through the extension.

We’re currently working on the SEO/GEO side and trying to understand how to make a new product easier for both search engines and AI systems to understand. We’ve focused on clear search intent, straightforward product positioning, pages explaining how it works, FAQs, structured data, internal linking, and keeping the same product/entity description across the web. We’ve also started a blog with 7–8 articles and are working on external mentions.

For GEO, we’re particularly interested in whether things like external mentions, comparison pages, structured data, entity consistency, and direct answers on pages actually make a difference for systems like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI.

The question is for an experts what actually works, especially for a new product without much existing search authority.
