Hope it works better than the genAI "receptionist" that a local healthcare provider started using. It's not just worthless, but impossible to get past. It made contacting them via phone, email, or web site literally impossible.

I had to go in to the office just to get a very simple question answered. It should have been a 30 second phone call, not a 30 minute round-trip drive.

Using these things for something like emergency services seems utterly insane to me.

And this is where LLMs excel at: deflection of duty. The billionaire class are going to replace people providing critical services with LLMs, claiming that they do the job better than humans. And they will, just not in the way they want us to believe. These pseudo-intelligent computer programs will make sure the voices of people in need go nowhere, saving "costs." In doing so, they will be much more efficient than human beings, as they don't have those pesky "conscience" getting in the way. LLMs will help further enshittification and the deliberate destruction of critical public services at a speed never seen before.
