I have forked the project and replaced the mechanism it used to retrieve data, so that it provides the same experience as before: no API token needed. The code is also public: https://github.com/Mubelotix/star-history
I provide the service for free at https://star-history.dera.page and will maintain it and keep the data up-to-date. Migrating to it is as easy as changing the domain name so it should be convenient for you, but keep in mind that I only have data for a few hundred thousands repositories (if you have more than 200 stars you should be included)
As you may know, the OG project star-history.com is dying because of github deprecating the API it relied on (https://www.star-history.com/blog/github-stargazer-api-restr...). README.md files that relied on it now show dead links/images.
