    Censorship and bureaucratic authoritarianism are real issues in Europe, but in a true democracy, citizens should engage in reasoned debate, not insult one another.

    Using a crude nickname for someone is in fact a crime in Germany: https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/englisch_stgb/englisch_st... If social media companies delete such content, they would ironically be guilty of destroying evidence of a crime, unless they also report it to the police.
