How do people find tangled who have tried it? I've been eyeing it. How does it compare to GitHub?

Depends on what you want to use it for. As a mirror for git repositories? It works fine. Never used it as a "collaboration platform for development teams" so unsure how well it'd work for that. It has rough edges, not gonna lie, but they have a starting point at least, will see how it progresses I suppose. If federation is what you're out after, it seems like the strongest bet so far. Hopefully Forgejo/Codeberg gets there soon too and is interoperable as well, same for/with Radicle ideally, so they all can be interoperable.

Tangled terrible name for source control.

It's fitting a theme of self-deprecation if we consider the origin of the name "git", no?

why is git's name self-deprecating? Wasn't it just chosen randomly and has no meaning?

You could surely check.. (oh boy your history)

I checked before I commented and it was the only thing that I found

And I don't get the remark about history

In a space where names include git, mercurial, fossil, and jujutsu? I think it's fine.
