How do you do a double-blind with a drug that perceptibly changes your state of mind?

    • RugnirViking 3 hours ago

I guess you do it anyway? the change in the state of mind is thought to be at least in part the mechanism of action, no? so if thats what makes it work, its good to test it against a non hallucinogen

You can't, and it's a real problem for some people. Other people realize that, like testing the efficacy of parachutes by throwing two people off an airplane, one without a parachute; other people realize the double blind standard can't be applied but that the results aren't woo mystical astrology unfounded conclusions despite that.

What is their dosing schedule? It says single dose, but how much are they giving?

    > Definium Therapeutics tab said a single dose of its LSD-based experimental pill significantly reduced symptoms of major depression

Reminds me of Soma from “brave new world” by aldus huxley.

We’re only missing a way to generate some pre-conditioned humans and we’re pretty much done (birthrates are already falling anyway, no need for malthusian practices).

Do other antidepressants, of which there are many, remind you of Soma as well?

What happens if I take 10?

Oh wait. That layoff caused my health insurance to quit working.

Oh well, can’t have any fun these days.
