    National sleep schedules are (at least partly) a reflection of national policy (the point of the article).

    My extension: Your personal sleep schedule documents your personal policy.

    And: "17 hours awake produces the same cognitive impairment as a 0.05% blood alcohol level". I had never heard that, but it turns out the CDC and the NIH say this.
