In the past I would use AWS, CloudFlare Workers, etc. but now all of my compute/storage is local (except remote backups)
The SATA drives are in RAID5 so it is less usable space, too. I have actually ran out of space in the past.
It’s definitely, like, sysadmin LARP, but it has taught me a _lot_ over the last decade or so. The ROI is definitely there considering it helps me be better at my job.
Why on earth do you need so much SSD storage. Are you running a data center at home?
I use it to host:
- Movies/TV
- File sync
- Game servers (e.g. Minecraft)
- S3
- CI/CD
- All of my projects on https://github.com/shepherdjerred/monorepo

And I wonder when buying a new PC will be possible again. I postponed it when I saw the price of RAM.
