This makes me want to download their app even less. And at 400+ MB, it wasn't exactly at the top of my list.

Aaron Swartz (RIP) must be rolling in his grave. F** Reddit. At this point I only visit the old reddit. Once they block it as well, I am never going back.

The bigger problem with using app is that you will ALSO have to use its in-app browser

Whatever it is that’s in their app, I REALLY don’t want it if these are the methods they use to push it.

I like browsing Reddit sometimes. I’d use it more if there was a non-Reddit browsing app, but those are gone now. So I sometimes use the mobile website.

I guess they‘re not particularly interested in my eyeballs.

I found if you delete your cookies the overlay goes away. I use the mobile site and found that both desktop mode and old.reddit is pretty hard to read, so at least there is one workaround (for now!)

I'm still using Sync, going on three years since they banned third party apps, and third party apps are still the best way to experience the site.

They are testing things. There was an undismissable banner for a week or so and now it’s gone for me.

It did not get me to download the app. I just stopped clicking reddit links.

Yeah, fortunately went away. For me it would always appear after like 30s of being on the page, meaning I would have to reload all the time while reading comments. Effective way for me to break out of the mindless scrolling though. I'm almost said they unfucked it.

I'm getting so tired of Reddit's antics. Also removing content seemingly at random without any meaningful explanation, and ignoring any messages about it. Which both makes mods look bad and is a blatant violation of the Digital Services Act.

The mods are terrible too. Getting anything to stick on reddit involves translating it precisely to that individual communities language. We all use the same vocabularies to speak incomprehensible languages at each other. If you cant speak the language of a community or directly challenge it you will get nowhere. What a shitty little cave it is.

this must be some a/b testing as i’m not seeing anything different

Continuum app still seems to be working fine, but sadly no new users allowed thanks to Reddit policies.
