Voter ID disproportionally disenfranchises black voters, Latino voters, the elderly, low-income, students, people with disabilities, and people in rural communities, just to name a few.

There is no perfect system; the goal is to have the best imperfect system. Voter ID means net fewer voices heard, which is an erosion of democracy.

Saying that black people cannot get an ID is racist and untrue.

I didn't say that. It's nevertheless a fact that when the state requires specific forms of ID, the costs and friction of getting those documents can hit some populations harder than others

"Voter ID" is Jim Crow with a fancy name.

Anything that gives officials a lever to reject voters can and will be abused to limit voter participation. Voter suppression was documented in the case of Cambridge Analytica and is a major tool of the oligarchs.
