Jon Stewart and Tucker Carlson had their Crossfire theatre 20 years ago. Both are still performing the same act. Everything is built on top of us Vs them anxiety elevation.

It's hard to come up with a single American figure or group that has escaped that trap.

His previous show, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Problem_with_Jon_Stewart was canceled by Apple because he wanted to criticize AI, Israel, and China. Unless he wants to go the route of a fully independent podcast (which he already has), he's going to have to bow down to a political master at some point.

That was Apple's misstep, not Jon Stewart's. If you want people's attention you need their trust. You only get their trust when they know it's not simply laundered corporate talking points. Few actions could make Apple TV less relevant than their editorial oversight.

Morally correct, but the effect is the same. Jon was censored, and probably will be again.

And he'll still have more mindshare and cultural influence than Apple TV and Paramount. It must be so frustrating to the suits realizing that they cannot simply spend their money to control opinions.

Remember how much trust traditional media had 20 years ago? If Jon left and CBS decays they would have literally nothing left. It would be a big fat 0 on the balance sheet.

If these companies weren't run by idiots they would see the value in trust. They've just dismantled their empires because they don't know what business they're in.

If I had to bet… I’d say yes. Ain’t no way the Larry Ellison — ally of Trump — allows Stewart to skewer Trump day in and day out.

Yes yes the son will own paramount but we all know where the nepo baby gets his funds … daddy. And he that pays the bill is the one that actually calls the shots.

But Paramount only recently signed a massive deal for Southpark, which is outrageous in its handling of Trump.

They can probably let South Park slide. Stewart’s remarks are cogent and cutting. Cut into 1-3 minute chunks they can be just the sound bites that will anger grumpy old trumpy.

That is before south park made their new shows.

They can’t be that stupid though. You know South Park is gonna South Park. Matt and Trey don’t let up. They’ve been ready to be cancelled for over 25 years now.
