    This sounds like everything is working as intended.

    Both Apple and Meta deliberately delayed compliance with the new laws, but then eventually complied. And now they have to pay a penalty for the time period that they were too late. For Apple, allowing developers to show text about 3rd party payment methods is a pure policy change with almost no associated development work or cost, so they have no good excuse as to why it took them so long after the EU started their non-compliance investigation roughly a year ago.

    Pretty hard to not find them in breach when you get 0.5B if you do.

      Pretty foolish to not bother to be compliant when it costs 0.5B to fail compliance, too.

      it might have been a lot harder if they weren't.
