Microsoft also has multiple data center projects already underway in the Helsinki area.

Electricity cost is quite low in Finland and the Nordpool area in general compared to large parts of Central Europe. Also low carbon footprint.

Big swings in electricity pricing though since it's so heavily tied to the wind. Today it's 15.2 c/kWh on average and tomorrow it's going to be 4.5 c/kWh. Wind also seems to be dying down for the weekend, so we might see higher prices then.

Although I imagine that data centers get their electricity through the futures market instead to secure a fixed price. Both of the cities have district heating systems, so maybe they can join those to offset costs too. I know that the Microsoft datacenter in Espoo is going to be supplying heat to the Espoo district heating network.
