Very funny that the author was open about his name and working for TechCrunch. It reminds me of when someone tagged me on a Facebook group dedicated to specific software asking for a crack. They did not seem to know I worked for the company making that software.
Despite the seedy underbelly of gig sites like Fiverr here, I was also sad to see the scammer's response accusing them (by reporting the scamming account) of preventing them from having money to eat.
