The FCC approval was issued today so technically it can't be a dupe of a thread from two days ago but yeah, it seems like the previous discussion was motivated by the imminently expected approval.
This is super important in case of emergencies or disaster response. Lots of people no longer have AM/FM radios. Basic SMS communication, even if people can only receive government messages, is a great thing.
