Why did evolution see fit to limit the ability of the heart and the brain to regenerate cells?
My guess is that controlling proliferation in these organs prevents cancers or disturbing a structure that is “already working fine”, where small changes can reduce the functioning, and where tissue downtime isn’t feasible.
